A Voice in the Wilderness In Defense of "Mere Conservatism"

Say NO to Acorn in Illinois

acornI have recently teamed up with the group Americans For Prosperity to do some blogging for them as they work to ensure that groups like ACORN do not receive any more taxpayer funds.  AFP's Mission Statement reads:

Americans for Prosperity (AFP) and Americans for Prosperity Foundation (AFP Foundation) are committed to educating citizens about economic policy and mobilizing those citizens as advocates in the public policy process. AFP is an organization of grassroots leaders who engage citizens in the name of limited government and free markets on the local, state and federal levels. The grassroots members of AFP advocate for public policies that champion the principles of entrepreneurship and fiscal and regulatory restraint.

Groups like AFP, Citizens Against Government Waste, and National Taxpayers Union are interested in keeping the citizenry informed on the actions and spending habits of their elected officials.

For residents of my home state, AFP-Illinois has started a website called "Say NO to ACORN" and has a very important petition for you to sign that will send a message to Springfield that the good citizens of the Land of Lincoln do not want corrupt community organizing groups receiving government funds. It takes all of one minute or less to sign the petition, so if you pay taxes in Illinois, SIGN THIS THING!

Read the two blog-posts I've made already for AFP-Illinois here and here.

For more on ACORN from its current president, Bertha Lewis, check out this interview from Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace:

What is “Mere Conservatism”?

The basic ideas, ideals, and values that generally define and characterize the central tenets of what today might be termed "modern conservative thought."

We believe that a proper understanding of history, economics, and theology leads to certain conclusions. Many of these are the same conclusions our Founding Fathers arrived at in constructing a "more perfect union."

All ideas and opinions are welcome; not all are correct.
