A Voice in the Wilderness In Defense of "Mere Conservatism"

Change of heart

There is some encouraging news out there for pro-life conservatives:

Abby Johnson, 29, used to escort women from their cars to the clinic in the eight years she volunteered and worked for Planned Parenthood in Bryan, Texas. But she says she knew it was time to leave after she watched a fetus "crumple" as it was vacuumed out of a patient's uterus in September.

'When I was working at Planned Parenthood I was extremely pro-choice," Johnson told FoxNews.com. But after seeing the internal workings of the procedure for the first time on an ultrasound monitor, "I would say there was a definite conversion in my heart ... a spiritual conversion."

My heart goes out to any woman who finds herself unexpectedly pregnant, but there are options out there. There are groups who can help. Pro-life advocates, whether conservative or not, need to be supporting those types of groups and voicing our concern for both the mother and the baby inside of her.

  1. I have bee reading your blog for several months now. Thanks for your sharing your thoughts.
I am writing to ask you add http://www.guysforlife.org/ to your links for places to look for help with an unplanned pregancy. Kurt, the founder, has a great ministry for the guys involved in the pregancy, be it the father, brother, dad who may be unsure about what to do or perhaps is encouraging the mother to choose abortion. They are often overlooked and this group has some wonderful resources.
    Thanks

What is “Mere Conservatism”?

The basic ideas, ideals, and values that generally define and characterize the central tenets of what today might be termed "modern conservative thought."

We believe that a proper understanding of history, economics, and theology leads to certain conclusions. Many of these are the same conclusions our Founding Fathers arrived at in constructing a "more perfect union."

All ideas and opinions are welcome; not all are correct.
