It addresses what we all face and wrestle with; that being why do we, the right and the left, view things so differently. I recommend you read this twice. Excellent article.
Two comments.
1) Normally left and right have opposite visions which clash just as you say. But regarding school vouchers I am not sure this is true. We all, left and right, want the best for poor people. Two things are tremendously helpful for getting people out of poverty, one of which is good education (the other is marriage.) Everyone sees that vouchers provide better education for the poor so left and right have the same vision. The difference is not vision, it is politics. The left needs the political support of the NEA (National Education Association) and thus they sacrifice the poor by leaving them in lesser educational institutions, thus earning the support of the NEA.
2) My vision: I want what is best for the most people and I believe this is achieved by allowing people’s self-interest to make decisions. Liberals think they know what is best for mankind so they believe in reducing freedom in order to force on humanity that which they think is best.

I have a vision that liberalism is a vision that should be classified as a mental illness. About 1/3 of this country are inflicted and another fourth shows symptoms. I suspect that our colleges and universities are the source of this disease. I believe that if our country survives the next three years, people with this mental illness will be requesting help as they will have certainly hit bottom.

Excellent article, and I fully agree that Thomas Sowell is one of the best thinkers in our society today. Political Correctness and Cultural Diversity that has been cleverly designed and implemented by Socially and Culturally Perverse and Subversive individuals has been spoon-fed at first, beginning in the 1960’s and today being Funnelled Down Our Throats by Tyrants. The Enemies of the United States and our Culture were spawned in Hollywood and today, we Have Hollywood Morals, Political Correctness, Cultural Diversity, Sexual Perversity, Sexual Diverstiy, and other Anti-Freedom and Liberty being Dictated by Official Government Sanctions as the Nancy Pelosi’s, Barney Frank’s and other deviant and perverted thinkers gained power and enforce Hollywood Morality on all of us, and the MSM promotes and celebrates it daily, 24-7, and Politicians, who care more about getting elected and thus gaining and retaining power have lost all sense of Morality and Loyalty to the United States, To the Citizens of the United States and to the U.S. constitution. We now have politicians jockeying for votes of up to 30 million illegal invaders who they just see as Potential Voting Blocs, and at the same time have already granted them Free Access to the Public Trough of Welfare, Food Stamps, Free Health Care, etc. and paying for it with Legal American workers Taxes while we workers are struggling to survive due to Excessive Taxes and Regulations and Restrictions on our freedoms, while the Politicians Look for New Victims to Groom as Voting Blocs. And the DC and National Band plays on and so do the State Bands, as the state governments become Mini-Dictatorships very much resembling the Granddaddy Dictatorship being run from the White House and Capitol Hill.

I like what I see here, RJM. I think my favorite point you made was about the martyrdom argument the Left makes. It is asinine to suggest that because crazy people who hate us will build shrines to terrorists we execute or kill we shouldn’t mete out the justice that is due. What liberal clap-trap! Only a weak, feminized (sorry to women out there that see through this crap), politically correct society would even allow such a thing to be suggested without laughing the person who brings it up off the national stage. We set our policies, and enemy combatants and terrorists deserve to punished with what WE decide is a punishment, not them.

The closing comment is what really hit home, and what I think, many of us are
feeling about this country. My visions is of our country, governed by the Consitution as set up by the Founding Fathers. They for the most part believed in God and knew that this was and still is essential for the survival of this great nation. Dr. Sowell is a diamond in a world full of coal and imitaion jewels. To die in your sleep is often painless and in some religions, considered a blessed way to to be called home. If this nation is to die in it’s sleep, it will NOT be painless nor will it be rapid. Bleeding to death slowly, from a thousand small cuts.

Thanks for another excellent post, RJ. Thinking about what we are facing is a must if we are going to survive this and come out better for it, in the end.
