A Voice in the Wilderness In Defense of "Mere Conservatism"

Most Important Verse In The Bible?

Dennis Prager isn't simply a nationally-syndicated radio talk show host and columnist, he is also a Jewish scholar of the Old Testament.  Here is Prager's answer to the question "What's the most important verse in the Bible?"

I'd love to hear your thoughts on what Dennis had to say. Leave a comment, if you would.

  1. I understand what Dennis is saying and believe he is on to something. However, my personal favorite verse in scripture is found in Ephesians 2. After describing our predicament-dead in our sins, disobedient, and the the very objects of God’s wrath-Paul writes (and this is the verse), “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.

And the rest is so incredible I have it below:

6And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Dennis makes a very provocative point but as a believer in Jesus Christ as Saviour Messiah, and as one who has fully trusted Christ and found purpose in life only by the Gospel, I have to disagree with him and point to a verse that highlights an even more incredible truth.

What is “Mere Conservatism”?

The basic ideas, ideals, and values that generally define and characterize the central tenets of what today might be termed "modern conservative thought."

We believe that a proper understanding of history, economics, and theology leads to certain conclusions. Many of these are the same conclusions our Founding Fathers arrived at in constructing a "more perfect union."

All ideas and opinions are welcome; not all are correct.
