The Press Release The Cairo Embassy SHOULD Have Released

What our embassy in Cairo SHOULD HAVE said in their press release:

"We actually have freedom in America and sometimes people act and speak foolishly. Just as YouTube videos about kittens playing with yarn don't speak to our elected government's foreign policy, so too do the ramblings of a weirdo in a studio in California have nothing to do with the policies of our president and congress.

Remember that Muslims in the United States are the freest Muslims in the world. A Christian in a Muslim country is at risk. A Muslim in Judeo-Christian America is at home.

Anyone attempting to enter our embassy illegally in the future will be shot between the eyes by one of our brave, talented soldiers.

We wish to live in peace. We want to work together. We won't be intimidated."

  1. I agree with everything you wrote above except “ramblings of a weirdo in a studio in California”. That movie is made by amateurs obviously and is clearly not going to get any academy awards nominations, but the events that it narrates and the way it portrays Mohammed is 100% in accordance with the most ancient, reliable and venerated Islamic history books written by Muslim scholars themselves. Non of it was invented out of whole cloth.

I understand the tendency of western people who generally think a prophet must be a more or less virtuous man, to think that the movie was full of gratuitous insults to Mohammed because of the way he was portrayed, but this is only because of your biases and prejudices in favor of anyone venerated as prophet. I come from Iran and am an ex-Muslim and I must say what constitutes virtue and extreme evil in Islam is not even close to Judeo-Christianity.

Many devout Muslims amongst themselves and in their own countries KNOW that Muhammed behaved in the manner that this movie describes. That’s why many of them, good and faithful followers that they are exactly follow his example closely, hence the terrorism, embassy attacks, 9/11, etc…. They just don’t want westerners to know about it because they know westerners would not approve and they hate to bring embarrassment on their prophet. Remember Middle Eastern culture is a face and shame culture! No embarrassment brought to the collective is tolerated and all attempts must be made to cover it up in front of outsiders.

In addition in this movie the taboo of showing the face of the prophet was broken as he was portrayed by a mere mortal actor who they think is unworthy of portraying someone as holy as him!

In order to check the veracity of my claims check out the following classical Islamic history books: 1. History of Al Tabari (multivolume, available on Amazon) 2. Sirah Rasoul Allah by Ibn Ishaq (translation of Alfred Guillaume) 3. Collections of Hadith (Mohammed’s sayings and deeds) Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim (available in English online from Islamic website)

The same stories from this movie are told in detail in all of the above books out in the open! Non of them are banned in ANY Islamic country or in the west. In fact they are taught in Islamic seminaries all over the world. The whole problem these violent hypocrites had with that movie was that it was in a movie form and that it was embarrassing and a mere mortal played their prophet. THAT’S ALL!

What is “Mere Conservatism”?

The basic ideas, ideals, and values that generally define and characterize the central tenets of what today might be termed "modern conservative thought."

We believe that a proper understanding of history, economics, and theology leads to certain conclusions. Many of these are the same conclusions our Founding Fathers arrived at in constructing a "more perfect union."

All ideas and opinions are welcome; not all are correct.
