A Voice in the Wilderness In Defense of "Mere Conservatism"

3Oct/12Off

Steven Crowder, Don Watkins & David Swindle

Welcome to another jam-packed episode of the American Enterprise Institute's "Values & Capitalism" podcast!  Three guests means three times the entertainment, right? Pretty sure that math adds up.

Steven Crowder is a Fox News contributor, stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and recovering Canadian.

Steven grew up in Montreal and has been in the entertainment industry for much of his life.  We talk with him about the competitive nature of Hollywood and the comedy world, especially for someone with Center-Right views on politics and economics.  Mr. Crowder's work can also be found on his personal YouTube channel, and we encourage you to follow the funny-man on Twitter at @Scrowder.

Next up, R.J. welcome Don Watkins, a fellow at the Ayn Rand Institute in Irvine, CA.

Mr. Watkins is a columnist at Forbes.com and his op-eds have appeared in such venues as Investor's Business Daily, The Christian Science Monitor, FoxNews.com, CNBC.com and Forbes magazine. He has appeared on nationally syndicated radio programs, and is a regular guest on PJTV's Front Page with Allen Barton.  His brand-new book, Free Market Revolution: How Ayn Rand's Ideas Can End Big Government, co-authored by Yaron Brook, was just released in September, and we had Don on tell us all about it.  You can follow him on Twitter at @Dwatkins3.

Last, but certainly not least, we have David Swindle,  editor for Pajamas Media and their PJ Lifestyle section.

David is a young man in his 20's, a graduate of Ball State University, and someone who has been writing, blogging, and editing since high school. We wanted to have him on to share some of his thoughts on the process, pitfalls and joys of choosing a career-path in new media.  He currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife and their Siberian Husky, Maura.  Follow Mr. Swindle on Twitter at @DaveSwindle!

What is “Mere Conservatism”?

The basic ideas, ideals, and values that generally define and characterize the central tenets of what today might be termed "modern conservative thought."

We believe that a proper understanding of history, economics, and theology leads to certain conclusions. Many of these are the same conclusions our Founding Fathers arrived at in constructing a "more perfect union."

All ideas and opinions are welcome; not all are correct.
